NC 2005 Launch Edition with BBR225 Kit from UK
This car is an extremely unique vehicle. It is an NC Launch Edition (#1809 of 3500, there were 250 in Australia), in the rare and beautiful Velocity Red Mica with Deep Crimson Leather, chrome windscreen surround, grille, and foglights.
I set about creating a car with character, that was about the driving experience, a classic naturally aspirated engine song with ITBs generating induction roar, and an exhaust that really sings when it is working. It isn’t subtle, and it is for someone who wants to take Jinba-Ittai (horse and rider as one) to the next level where you feel as one not just with the chassis and the road, but the motor responding to your commands in the pedal box. Double declutching never sounded so good. When you drive conservatively the orchestra settles down to a nice burble.
BBR GTI in the UK are the pre-eminent MX-5 tuning house, and properly test and develop reliable, useable performance kits. The thing I loved about the BBR225 kit was it didn’t over-power the perfect design of the car, like a stage 2 or 3 turbo does. It gives the car the power that many of us believed the design deserves, and is capable of managing. The car is engineering certified with a modification plate.
It was never supposed to be sold. I invested like it I was keeping it. Then I had a life redirection that totally reordered what was important in my life, and my life is full with my rich church life, my relationship, my writing, and the future PJ and I are co-creating. I could not be happier, and the future owner of this unique car should be too. It cost me $45,000 to buy it and then fit it out as it is.

The car is not accident-free, but it was the subject of a very high quality (non-insurance) rebuild by Bridgen Restorations with the owner Dean Bridgens doing the work himself across 7 months in 2025.
