Rapid Rundown - June 2026

John Tait - President | Published on 6/26/2026

Hello members,

I just wanted to bring you up to date with some recent club developments as we move into winter.

Brad Wright joined the Management Committee as General Secretary in November 2025. Brad’s assistance with the passage of the new Club Rules, along with his suggestions to streamline and improve internal administration, have been invaluable. Brad has a very busy professional life and always made it clear that he would need to be moving on from the Management Committee as soon as a replacement General Secretary could be recruited. I am very pleased to announce that Michael Allsop has kindly agreed to take on this very important and essential role.

On behalf of the membership, I sincerely thank Brad for his significant and enduring contributions and Michael for accepting appointment as the General Secretary of your club. The changeover was conducted at the Management Committee meeting on 15 June 2026.

There has been considerable activity on the calendar for members to enjoy. Regional social drives and gatherings have been conducted each month. There has been a plethora of motorsport activities as well. One of the recent highlights was the driver training day at Lakeside Park. This provided invaluable practical training for attendees in dry and wet conditions and included instructional on-track sessions. My sincere thanks go out to Henri van Roden for organising and managing this event and for the great Saturday entry fee that he negotiated with Lakeside management. Maureen van Roden must also take a bow for looking after the catering and BBQ lunch for the attendees.

There are many more events programmed for the rest of the year so make sure you stay up to date. Please, regularly log-in and check the club website and calendar for upcoming events. Also follow the chat and view the events and photographs on the (Official) Members Only Facebook Group. You need to simply supply your postcode and membership number and agree to the rules to join the group.

Spectators are always welcome at motorsport events and entry is usually free. You can normally visit the pit area to chat with the drivers and check out the cars. Your club is holding a commanding position in the Inter Club Challenge Qld (ICCQ) and your support is always appreciated by our club participants. The next ICCQ event is on Saturday, 27 June 2026  at Lakeside Park.

Mark 5 September 2026 in your calendar for the AGM – it’s just over two months away. We’re hoping to have something interesting for members after the AGM concludes. Stay tuned for details. You can see the basic AGM information and register your attendance intentions now at this LINK. Remember that every financial member now has voting rights. A formal notice of the AGM will be issued by early August 2026.

I look forward to catching up with you at an event soon.

Keep zooming.
