The Brisbane Chapter for September is revisiting 'Falls Drive' a sensationally beautiful road we last visited in October 2021 with Val & Don Horton. We're doing it on the second Saturday, given the second Sunday was claimed by the ICCQ competition for a Hill Climb at Mount Cotton.
Our lunch destination this time will be the Killarney Hotel, at the South Western end of Falls Drive, so named for the three waterfalls along its length.
We will meet at Park Ridge Tavern in the Jedfire St rear car park, right opposite the 24 hour McDonalds where there will be coffee and the opportunity to synchronise bladders.
We then head to Moogerah Dam for Morning Tea. There is a small cafe, but it can get busy and overwhelmed, so BYO is a good idea.
From Moogerah we head to 'Falls Drive' its stunning scenery, and winding roads, stopping at Carrs Lookout to take in the vista for a few minutes, before proceeding to the Killarney Hotel for lunch.
Queen Mary Falls is an easy visit on the way back, with the viewing platform a few hundred metres from the car park.
The Brisbane Chapter Leader will be in photographer mode, given 'Beastie' is still getting physical therapy after his unfortunate intersection with a kangaroo on the Morgan Park weekend. I'll be giving the new Canon R7 a run and hopefully using the 15 frames per second mechanical shutter to capture a good shot of every car in the convoy, hiding in the bushes on the most scenic bends.
